US Masters 2008 field confirmed
The field for the US Masters 2008 has been confirmed. Barring injuries and late withdrawals, 93 players are expected to arrive at the August National Golf Club next week in the hopes of winning the year’s first major.
The US Masters 2008 offers automatic entries to previous champions, and these entries will include Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson, Phil Mickleson and Mike Wier. This group also includes a host of golfing legends, including Gary Player and Bernhard Langer.
Winners of from the last five years of the other golf majors are also offered automatic qualification for the event, and include the likes of Geoff Ogilvy, Angel Cabrera, Padraig Harrington and Retief Goosen. The rest of the US Masters 2008 field is made up by the top amateur golf champions, the money leaders from the 2007 PGA tour, and those players who finished the year in the world top 50 golf rankings. Notable entries include Lee Westwood, Trevor Immelman and Justin Leonard.
With the tournament not far off there has been a late scramble for qualification via tournament wins, with the winner of the Shell Houston Open qualifying for the final place in the US Masters 2008 field.
