US Masters 2008 golfers tune-up at Houston Open

The 2008 Houston Open is being targeted by dozens of US Masters 2008 competitors as a warm-up for the year’s first major.

In total, 28 players from the US Masters 2008 will be participating in the 2008 Houston Open commencing today in Texas. Amongst the big name players in action at the event will be Padraig Harrington, fresh off a decent performance in New Orleans, and Phil Mickelson, the world number two ranked player.

While the 2008 Houston Open promises some tense golf as the top ranked European player in the world and America’s second favourite golfing son square off, Harrington has admitted that all is not as it should be with his game.

“My game would not be ready if the US Masters were being held this week," he said. "New Orleans was an okay result, even though I did a lot of things wrong. I am not too happy about that but it was nice to be in contention and I was surprised - it felt good.”

Also in the 2008 Houston Open field are Michael Campbell of New Zealand, Argentina’s Angel Cabrera and WGC-CA winner Geoff Ogilvy.
