US Masters 2008: Report on Day 3

The third day of the US Masters 2008 saw 28 year old South African Trevor Immelman finish at the top of the leaderboard, holding onto the lead for the third day in succession.

Playing on an Augusta National course heavy with rain, Immelman scored three birdies to put himself on 11 under for the tournament. Immelman briefly surrendered his lead to American golfer Brandt Snedeker before two birdies on the back 9, including one on the 18th hole, put him two shots ahead of the field.

Tiger Woods played a good round of golf to card the lowest score for the day, with a round of 68 putting him back in contention for the title as he enters the fourth day of the 2008 US Masters trailing by six shots.

One thing is for certain on the fourth day of the 2008 US Masters, and that is that history will be made.

None of the players in the top three have ever won a major, whilst Tiger Woods has never won a major by coming from behind. Trevor Immelman could also make history if he hits a score under 70, becoming the first golfer in history to card four rounds under 70 in the US Masters.
